This is the Turkish Közmatik. I'm biased of course, but I think this is the perfect gadget for roasting vegetables. To be honest, it's not a beautifully hand-crafted object, but it is Turkey at its best with something practical for the kitchen this time. I can't say much more about it really, other than it is simply a genius of an invention!
Why we love our Közmatik?
If like us, you have a passion for roasted vegetables; aubergines, peppers, tomatoes & onions, this amazing but 'oh so simple' gadget makes roasting vegetables easy-peasy! Its particular talent is aubergines, cooked to perfection with a soft and delicate smoky flavour.
It has to be used on a gas stove or a BBQ (sadly it doesn't work on electric hobs). Simply place your Közmatik directly onto the gas burner, full flame, place your vegetables directly onto the Közmatik turning regularly as the outside slowly chars and the vegetables soften inside. I have to say, the added bonus is minimal mess!
So, where do I start with recipes? Really these roast vegetables are delicious just eaten as they are. But, our favourite recipe is for the traditional Turkish aubergine dip - Baba Ganoush or 'Patlican Ezmesi' as they call it in Turkey.

The Közmatik becomes extremely hot during cooking, so leave plenty of time for it to cool before handling & washing up.
