Dilek is our 100% cotton Turkish blanket and throw. This traditional flat-woven diamond design has been an indispensable part of the traditional and historic Turkish textile design for centuries. Dilek is one of our most popular blanket and throw designs because it comes in an array of colours from vibrant pink, purple and green to soft grey and oatmeal.

Woven by artisans on semi-automatic looms, each tassel is carefully twisted and knotted by hand. Our blankets and throws or pike (pee-kay) as they are called in Turkey, are a great accessory for the home. The beautifully soft draping cotton makes it a perfect sofa throw, wrap it around you and snuggle down on cold winter days, and it's big enough to cover a king size bed. 

So, who is our Dilek blanket and throw weaving partner?

Bekir sources our traditional diamond Dilek blankets and throws from Denizli in the Aegean region of Turkey. He is also our ‘go-to guy’ and expert on all there is to know about Turkish textiles. When we have a question or need some advice, we go to Bekir. He always knows the answer and does whatever we need doing quickly and well. He has become not only a business partner, but was also a good friend to us when we lived in Turkey.  

A creative and wise businessman, he grew up helping to run the family business and in recent years has taken over the day to day running of the business from his father. His shop is an Aladdin’s Cave full of meticulously folded and stacked Turkish towels, blankets, rugs and throws in every design and colour you could ever imagine. He is a master at tracking down new textiles for us and sending us photographs of his latest textile discovery.

His artisan weavers produce Dilek blankets and throws in over 15 colours, so when we visit Bekir and begin the task of trying to choose colours for Pazaar we are like children in a sweet shop, wanting them all!

Important information 

Because our Turkish blankets and throws are hand woven you may occasionally find tiny thread pulls and knots in the fabric. This is because during the weaving process threads sometimes catch in the loom and the weavers simply snip the loop and then either push the loose threads back into the weave or knot them up. At Pazaar we think this all adds to the character and uniqueness of each of our peshtemal….no one peshtemal is the same as the other. We endeavour to check all our products before we send them out to customers, but very occasionally a little knot or pulled thread will slip by us. If this happens and you want to return or exchange your throw this is absolutely fine. Please read through the Pazaar Returns Guidance here and we will be more than happy to exchange your blanket and throw.
